Instructor and Guide - Joseph Quinn Personal Profile

After finishing High School Joseph was awarded a full academic scholarship to Australia's Premier Leadership and Management University, The Australian Defence Force Academy. Having gained a degree in Management and Leadership, Joseph went on to complete a Diploma in Personnel management at the Royal Military College, Duntroon, graduating as an officer in the Australian Army.

He then went on to a number of postings, including three months based in Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore, training with foreign forces. On return to Australia he specialised in reconnaissance and surveillance, and was deployed to East Timor under the auspices of The United Nations. In East Timor he was responsible for border surveillance and security, and protecting the local populace. He also assisted in training the fledgling East Timorese Border Protection Service.

He has completed a number of specialist courses, including airborne rappel instructor, survival training and advanced navigation/ field craft, to name a few.

Joseph was promoted to the rank of Captain, and served in a number of leadership and management positions around Australia, managing large structural and policy changes within a myriad of Defence organisations. In his final years in Defence he served as the senior Leadership and Management Instructor at the Australian Defence Force Academy, training Officer Cadets in both the field and the classroom, in theoretical and practical leadership training. He also completed a Masters Degree in International Relations.

After discharging from the Army Joseph moved to Ireland, and occupied the role of HR Manager for Paddy Power plc. He then went on to fulfill the role of HR Manager for Bvlgari Ireland and Bvlgari UK, having an office in both London and Dublin, and successfully transferred the Bvlgari logistic operations from Switzerland to Ireland.

Joseph is the Managing Director of Walkabout Wicklow Limited, offering a variety of services. These include corporate team building activities, fully guided recreational hill walking/ hiking tours, hiking courses (including training in navigation, route selection, walking safety etc), singles activities and Bush craft/ survival courses.
